The New World
The New World,
Is getting old.
I had a dream to go there,
But not now, no more.
They said the paths
Were paved with gold.
I found only the
Homeless and beggers,
Fighting hunger and cold.
The American dream
Is just an illusion.
I wanted to scale
The highest peak,
Be all one could be
Reach the unreachable star.
I look upon it now, from afar
I see the star spangled banner
Unsung and in distress.
I weep for a dream
That could have been.
A land for the free
A home for the brave
But not now, not anymore.
